rich gemmell

i haven't been this instantly excited about an illustrator for a long while. as i was taking an otherwise pretty boring tour of unknown blogs this afternoon i came across rich gemmell's awesome work. i love the long portrait format in the 3 examples below, it's a beautiful and creative way of illustrating a landscape. bah, i sound ridiculous but i think you'll agree that his work is ace.. take a look at more here.

the last image is my favourite, the fir trees, the smoke, the text in the background, the mountains, the rain.. it's all just brilliant. when emailing to ask permission to use his images it transpired that rich is a real nice guy. it turns out a lot of people can be quite unfriendly rather than just telling you they'd prefer you not to use their images.. so i think it's worth mentioning a good interaction. thanks rich!
